MUSIC JOURNALIST TURNED singer-songwriter Sylvie Simmons, whose recent, uke-accompanied, Howe Gelb-produced debut album has garnered admiration from Elvis Costello among others, recently returned from Chile, where a collaboration with esteemed local musicians has produced an official bootleg for the curious to download and enjoy for free. On the Santiago session, produced by Chilean rock legend Alejandro “Perrosky” Gómez, Simmons is sensitively backed by Diego Alorda and Matías Cena. The bootleg comprises three of Simmons’ own songs, and three by Leonard Cohen (Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye, Suzanne and Bird On The Wire) on whom she is something of an expert.

Sylvie Simmons' album Sylvie is available on Light In The Attic Records.
