Walking Papers - The Whole World Is Watching
MOJO presents the UK exclusive of Duff McKagan’s new blues-infused outfit.
BORN IN SEATTLE and the veteran of several punk bands – Vains, the Fastbacks, the Fartz, 10 Minute Warning, to name but four – Duff McKagan went of to greater glory with Guns N’ Roses and, later, Velvet Revolver. Now he’s returned to Seattle to join Walking Papers, a band formed last year with Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin and former Missionary Position duo Jeff Angell (guitar/vocals) and keyboard player Benjamin Anderson. The four-piece have recorded their self-titled debut which is out in the US and is due out here on the Loud & Proud label on October 21. Produced by legendary Seattle producer and Skin Yard supremo Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden), the album matches a pronounced sense of vitriol with a crunchy, blues-rock sound typified by the lead track, The Whole World Is Watching – a modern day protest song.
MOJO is proud to premiere this live version of the tune which was filmed at Seattle’s Moore Theater in May of this year at a Music Lessons Matter benefit. Walking Papers were joined by Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and the Synergia Orchestra, the bill talso including former Santana man Michael Shrieve, Selene Vigil-Wilk (formerly of 7 Year Bitch) and Brad’s Shawn Smith.
