Pere Ubu Prepare ‘Elite’ Box Set Of Early Recordings
MOJO premieres three freshly remastered tracks from the Cleveland band's Elitism For The People 1975-78 box set, due out in August.
THE EARLIEST YEARS of Pere Ubu are set to be brought together for a new box set, and MOJO has a preview from the new release you can listen to below. Elitism For The People 1975-78 will bring together the Cleveland band’s first two studio albums, The Modern Dance and Dub Housing (both 1978), plus a live album Manhattan and The Hearpen Singles collection in one place for release on August 21. Everything has been remastered from the original two-track masters.
We have three tracks from the box set you can listen to now: the wiry street stomp of Street Waves, the strung-out vulnerability of Caligari’s Mirror and the abrasively atmospheric My Dark Ages.
Pere Ubu play a handful of UK dates that kick off next month at Brighton’s Komedia on July 16. Visit www.ubuprojex.com for full details.
