20 Best Albums Of 2014 (Q3)
The finest releases of July, August and September. Chosen to blow your mind by the MOJO team.
AS FAR AS AMAZING music goes, 2014 is shaping up to be a truly vintage year – and this summer’s bountiful harvest of MOJO-friendly releases has added plenty of rich, explosive flavours to an already tangy supply of sonic goodies. Whether it’s the gently-picked transcendent voodoo folk of Mirel Wagner or The Bug’s nightmarish, dystopian beats, the heart-rending, wistful Americana of Ryan Adams or U2’s deeply personal but given-away-free comeback, there have been surprises galore and classics aplenty. Can there, in 2014, really be a hard-rockin’ band as convincing and fresh as Electric Wizard, or psych-pop as sunny as The John Steel Singers? Yup, you bet there can…
We've already answered your call for the best of the first two quarters of the year, and here comes the hot third instalment. Note that the list is in alphabetical order, not ranked by fantastic-ness. But please do contact us on Facebook and Twitter (@MOJOmagazine) about anything you think we’ve overlooked or even – crazy we know – got a bit wrong.
