See Aretha Franklin's Great Lost Movie In The Company Of MOJO
Come to the London preview of Amazing Grace on May 8
MOJO are proud to announce we’ll be partnering with Studio Canal for an exclusive preview screening of Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace at the Union Chapel, London, on May 8. The film is released in UK cinemas on May 10.
Amazing Grace sees Franklin in performance at the New TempleMissionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, over two days in January 1972. Although the album of the concerts went on to become the best-selling gospel record of all time, the footage was shelved until now. It captures, wrote David Fricke in his MOJO review, “the Queen of Soul in historic, vocal transcendence… Franklin spends Amazing Grace in graceful retreat, entirely lost to the art and prayer of singing.”
The preview at the Union Chapel will also feature a live gospel choir and special guests. Tickets are available here.
