PRESUMABLY THEY TOLD the venues beforehand, but U2 have announced plans for a world tour next year. The iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE dates will kick off at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on May 14, 2015, with shows across North America taking place all summer. Europe, including the UK, gets its turn next autumn, with Turin hosting the first date on September 4.

“Success is when you take the songs out and you play them live for an audience.”

Larry Mullen

Tickets go on sale on December 8, with www.u2.com, naturally, hosting full details.

This month’s MOJO cover stars will play a minimum of two nights in each city on the tour, with Bono promising and different experience at each gig.

“We are going to try to have a completely different feeling from night one to night two,” he explained, “and have some fun playing with the idea of innocence and experience. More to be revealed!”

More importantly for the band, as they tell Danny Eccleston in this month’s cover feature, the tour will be the yardstick that will allow them to judge the true merit of recent album Songs Of Innocence, particularly after its controversial release via iTunes.

“It’s always the same,” says Larry Mullen. “Success is when you take the songs out and you play them live for an audience. That’s when we'll know if we’ve achieved what we set out to achieve. That’s when you know if you’re in or you’re out.”
