The Amazing Snakeheads – Flatlining

Shudder and thrill to Glasgow’s greased-back kings of unkempt rock’n’roll.

FOR THE LAST COUPLE of years we have been waiting for a band to emerge that eschew the manicured politesse of modern day indie pulp. A band imbued with a devil-may-care lust for life and a deep love of rock’n’roll. That band may well be Glasgow trio The Amazing Snakeheads whose new single emerged this week on Domino Records. The Sturm und Drang of Flatlining, their second 45 which follows the highly-charged 75-second blast of last year’s Testifying Time, is a slice of claustrophobic blues-power menace. The accompanying video – which we’ve ‘kindly’ presented here – comes with a heart-pumping opening shot. Quite literally.

Directed by Alan Parks at the Grand Ole Opry – Glasgow’s country and western bar – the video is a fine piece of lo-fi grot-abilly which comes with an added dash of gold lamé. Get down!
