Four Tet – Gillie Amma, I Love You
Kieran Hebden's electronic alter-ego cuts gorgeous, moving track for charity benefiting India’s Dalit children.
FOLLOWING THE UNDER-THE-RADAR release of their seventh studio album, Beautiful Rewind in October, Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden has unveiled a new track, a minimalist breeze of ensorcellment that interlaces rainbow synth pulses with the harmonies and small chatter of an Indian children’s choir. The track heralds a forthcoming pair of albums curated by Scottish arts community Transgressive North for the Everything Is New outreach project in aid of Dalit “untouchable” children in South East India.
The core of the project is Sun Choir by Edinburgh-based band Marram, a six-year project featuring the Light Of Love Children’s Choir plus contributions from Jarvis Cocker, Owen Pallett, doseone, Irvine Welsh, Margaret Bennett and White Hinterland.
The choir recordings were then sampled and remixed on the second album, Boats, a 29-track double album featuring contributions from Gang Gang Dance, No Age, Dan Deacon, Bear in Heaven, Rustie, Califone, Deerhoof, doseone, Matthewdavid, Max Tundra, The Ruby Suns, White Hinterland and many more.
The albums are released on January 20 and proceeds from the project will go to the charity Scottish Love In Action, which feeds, clothes, houses, educates and provides medical care for over 500 children by funding the Light Of Love Home and School in southeast India.
