U2 Premiere New Track, Ordinary Love
"Are we tough enough?" asks Bono (among other things) in new song from upcoming Mandela movie.
U2 HAVE POSTED a new track, Ordinary Love, online. The song will feature in new Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and will also appear as the A-side of a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl due for release on Record Store Day’s Black Friday (next Friday, November 29). The B-side will feature a new version of No Line On The Horizon’s Breathe. "When I asked them to consider writing a song for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, it was the fastest 'yes' I have ever received," said the film's producer Harvey Weinstein. "The band saw various cuts of the film over the summer and worked diligently to write a song that truly reflects Nelson Mandela. I think they did a brilliant job honoring the man and the leader they have known for over 20 years."
Harnessing that star-bursting, widescreen feel without tumbling headlong into total rock grandeur, Ordinary Love points towards the band's new studio album, produced by Danger Mouse, recorded in New York and due in April.
