FILMED IN THE RUINS of the bombed-out Bayernhof Restaurant at Potsdamer Platz in 1969, this footage of German electro godheads Tangerine Dream finds the group delivering their pre-electronic psych-rock experimentations balanced on a fountain and surrounded by what is undoubtedly one of the great assortment of Heads. The film, originally broadcast on German television, is a rare example of Tangerine Dream on the cusp of their journey into the realms of kosmische electronica – a pioneering flight that would begin with debut album Electronic Meditations in 1970 and continue through the decade with such radical, mysterious LPs as Zeit (1972), Atem (1973), Phaedra (1974) and Rubycon (1975). That journey continues to this day with their catalogue now standing at over 100 albums.

For now though, join Dream leader Edgar Froese and the denizens of the Berlin hippie night for seven minutes of undiluted avant-rock.
