Julia Holter – In The Green Wild

JULIA HOLTER – whose Ekstasis album placed so strongly amongst MOJO's 50 Albums Of 2012 – has released a teaser song from her new album, Loud City Song, due August 19. In The Green Wild evokes Holter's avowed interest in Joni Mitchell circa The Hissing Of Summer Lawns, beginning as angular, art-jazz song-poem and ending with one of her most gorgeous and limpid melodies. Meanwhile, there's a bassist giving it plenty of Jaco Pastorius.

The video – a kind of DIY jazz age school play/costume party – was directed by Yelena Zhelezov. Loud City Song is available to pre-order from Domino. Pre-order customers will receive an instant download of In The Green Wild.
