Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs – Evil Mothers

Louche Londoners’ latest track underlines the world’s debt to Lou Reed.

IF MORE PROOF WERE needed of the ever-reverberating impact of Lou Reed on the rock’n’roll firmament, it’s provided by London’s Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, self-admittedly committed to “primitive, sexy, glamorous rock’n’roll” and channeling the art-punk of mid-’70s New York. It’s all there, with the additional ladling-on of The Voyeurs’ own je ne sais rock, in the headrush shamble-gaze of all-new track Evil Mothers.

Not on their recent debut album, Clarietta, Evil Mothers is digitally right now. It will also be made available as a 7” and full download package, featuring a B-side cover of The Kinks’ Wicked Annabella, on Monday, December 16. The download package includes a live cover of The Velvet Underground’s Sister Ray (told ya!), which was previously available as a one-sided limited edition (150 copies) 12”. Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs are Heavenly Recordings artistes.
