MC5: A TRUE TESTIMONIAL is currently available to view online, but get your fix quick – it might not be there for long. Originally released in 2002, Laurel Legler and David C. Thomas’ chronicle of the Detroit punk pioneers’ explosive lifespan was shown at several film festivals in the US through 2003 and 2004, but a legal battle between the band and the filmmakers has since scuppered chances of further screenings and a proposed DVD release.

Featuring stunning live footage and interviews with the band’s Wayne Kramer, Dennis Thompson, the late Michael Davis and archive film of Rob Tyner and Fred ‘Sonic’ Smith, this is a no-holds-barred look at the militant hippies who summoned high-energy rock from the core of Motor City. As John Sinclair testifies, “They were out on an edge that hadn't been discovered before.”
