“IT’S A FULL CIRCLE being drawn,” said Keith Richards of the Hyde Park shows they played in July this year, a key component in a summer of Stones activity that breathed new life into their legacy. An amalgam of the July 6 and July 13 shows is now a film, entitled The Rolling Stones – Sweet Summer Sun: Hyde Park Live, which will screen in an abridged form on BBC1 at 10.35pm on Saturday evening.

Helping you decide whether to hunker down with a six-pack of incorrigible rock’n’roll action or go to the pub instead, here’s the full version of Jumpin’ Jack Flash – a performance that speaks volumes for Mick Jagger’s undimmed frontman skills and Ron Wood and Charlie Watts’s ability to keep the whole thing glued together.

But most of all marvel at Keith Richards, marching to a literally different drum, slashing at his axe apparently at whim, and yet somehow encapsulating all that is still precarious and colourful about the Stones.

Watch it now…

Rolling Stones – Sweet Summer Sun: Hyde Park Live emerges in full on DVD and Blu-Ray (and other formats) through Eagle Rock on November 11.
