Yoko Ono – Moonbeams
Yoko Ono’s new track is streaming and screaming. Listen here.
YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO Band teases her (their?) forthcoming album – Take Me To The Land Of Hell, due September 16 – with a unique slice of third-eye-pulsating, psychedelic dance-rock entitled Moonbeams. There's some screaming (obvs), and lyrics are vintage-bonkers. Sample: "My heart is ruminating your sweet words / While my hand's strangling the birds." Eh? Then she accuses her "three husbands" (aka composer Toshi Ichiyanagi, American musician-promoter Anthony Cox and, you know, the other one) of rendering her "housebound", which is a bit rich if you think about it. The song opened Ono's festival-opening set at last month's Meltdown and is indicative of another strong Yoko album (the last one, Between My Head And The Sky was one of MOJO's Albums Of 2009), featuring a strong muso cast including Questlove, tUnE-yArDs, Wilco's Nels Cline and Cornelius.
All together now: "Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
