BELL X1, THE MOODY, tenacious Irish rock band whose sixth album, Chop Chop received a rave 4-star review in August’s MOJO magazine, unveil an ingenious video for its keynote track, Careful What You Wish For, exclusively here. The track showcases the sophisticated, minimalistic sound of the new album, co-recorded in a speedy 2-week session by The National producer Peter Katis. It’s already garnered comparisons with ’80s progressive pop luminaries such as The Blue Nile.

Of the album, MOJO reviewer James McNair wrote: “Dublin trio Bell X1 are a somewhat underappreciated entity here in the UK. Dispensing its nine thoughtfully minimalist songs in less than 35 minutes, Chop Chop is probably too idiosyncratic to change that, but it immediately enamours with the skitter piano of Starlings Over Brighton Pier.”

In MOJO’s world, where idiosyncrasy is valued highly, this is praise indeed. Bell X1 appear to be growing into one of those rare groups who get more interesting with age.
