Matthew E. White's 2012 debut Big Inner is an ice-cool mix of psychedelic soul and gospel-country recorded by the hirsute multi-instrumentalist and his Spacebomb collective in their Richmond, Virginia studio. So it's good news that a new augmented edition of the album, Big Inner: Outer Face , is due out on October 22 and is set to contain a bonus 5-track EP. Unlike the original album tracks, Outer Face's extra songs are marked by an absence of guitar, horns and piano, instead each relies on a foundation of percussion, bass and strings. Oh, and a choir. Check out the hynoptic minimalism and celestial atmospherics of Hot Hot Hot here:

Big Inner: Outer Face will be available in standalone 12" vinyl, 2-CD and digital download versions. Matthew E. White plays London's Shepherds Bush Empire on September 4.
