PJ HARVEY, DOYENNE of British pop eccentrics, is one of the exclusive names atop the line-up of this summer’s Green Man Festival. The shindig takes place at Glanusk Park in the Brecon Beacons between August 17–20, 2017. Polly Harvey. Green and serene.

Joining her on the bill for the 15th Anniversary iteration of this oasis of head music amid the increasingly commercial and indiscriminate fare offered on the UK summer festival circuit are Americana pioneer turned unpredictable pop polymath Ryan Adams – whose latest album Prisoner is a return in his strongest suit: songwriting – and Future Islands, the Baltimore synth pop sophisticates, waxing emotional as ever. Expect singer Sam Herring to dance like no-one’s watching and sing like Fine Young Cannibals never existed.

Other MOJO favourites playing this year include Michael Kiwanuka, Lambchop, Angel Olsen, Field Music – all represented among the magazine’s 50 Best Albums Of 2016. While the creators of two of MOJO’s favourite albums of 2017 so far – Hurray For The Riff Raff and Michael Chapman – weigh in.

Future Island. Enjoy those knees while you can, Sam.

Also entering the lists: Conor Oberst, BadBadNotGood, Jon Hopkins (DJ), This Is The Kit, Julia Jacklin, Fionn Regan, The Big Moon, Richard Dawson, Melt Yourself Down, Laura Gibson, Sunflower Bean, Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band, Jessica Pratt, Karl Blau, Grumbling Fur, LVL UP, Shame, Wolf People, Big Thief, Gill Landry, Doomsquad, Deep Throat Choir, Girl Ray, Gaelynn Lea, Warhaus and The Orielles.
