Listen To Grumbling Fur Clowning With Erasure's Circus
MOJO premieres nu-synthpop duo's blissful, sound-shifting remix of old synthpop duo.
INDIE ROCK’S ELDER STATESMEN HAVE shown their respect for Grumbling Fur by working with them, now it’s their pop forbears' turn to share the love. The London duo, who have recorded with the likes of The Charlatans, have been handpicked by Erasure to reimagine the title track of their second album, The Circus – and you can hear the results exclusively below via MOJO.
The 1987 song has been remixed to mark the release of Andy Bell and Vince Clarke’s new best of collection Always, which is released today (October 30) to mark 30 years of the pair’s partnership.
For their part, the warped, twisted nostalgia infused into The Circus was an obvious a labour of love for Grumbling Fur.
“It’s long chromed panels of sound hovering above field recordings of a vaporous summer rain in South London suburbs,” says the band’s Daniel O'Sullivan as he whimsically describes the forces at work behind their Eternal Eraser Mix for MOJO. “Heavy on reverse. Reshaping cultural DNA and contorting childhood memories.”
Take a slightly twisted trip down pop’s memory lane now.
