Wreckless Eric Returns: “Getting Old Wasn’t Part Of The Plan!”

“I DON’T WANT to look back with regret,” Wreckless Eric tells MOJO as he prepares his first solo album in over a decade. “I don’t want to look back at all, but the approach of old age somehow forces you into it...” Released on November 13, there is certainly an aspect of surveying the scene on amERICa, an album which covers a variety of topics from lost pop fame, civil liberties and Eric’s move to the States in 2011.
“Getting this old wasn’t part of the plan, not that there ever was a plan,” Eric explains. “I hope everyone understands that I never wanted to take a crack at the hit parade, except maybe to put a crack in it. I was in it for the art, and yes, I’d probably do it all again because I wouldn’t know any better, and anyway I had a pretty good time really.”

Sounding like a sanded-down Roxy Music song, it’s a look back at Eric’s chart attempts via the prism of relentless touring, bad bands and audiences singing along, but “getting the words wrong”. Listen now...
