Bob Dylan Bootleg Vol. 12: All You Need Is Everything!
Every take recorded by Dylan in 1965 and 1966 – the motherlode for every Bobcat – to be released in November.
WE’VE JUST HEARD the most remarkable thing. A whole CD stuffed with 20 takes of Bob Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone. Bob in the studio in June 1965, pushing the limits of his imagination. Version after version. Slow ones. Fast ones. Bluesy ones. Country ones. Good ones. Great ones. Ones where you just hear guitarist Mike Bloomfield’s channel. It’s like watching Picasso paint on glass in 1949, building his masterpiece from scratch. A revelation.
And it’s just part of the latest volume of Dylan’s Bootleg Series. Vol. 12: The Cutting Edge 1965-1966 will be with us in earnest on November 6, a 6-disc set premiereing unreleased studio recordings – including never-before-heard songs, outtakes, rehearsal tracks, and alternate versions – from the Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde sessions. All selections are pristine transfers and mixed from the original studio tracking tapes.
In addition to the 6-CD Deluxe Edition, there are 2-CD and 3-LP ‘Best Of’ versions and, most remarkably, an 18-CD Collectors Edition limited to a worldwide pressing of only 5,000 copies. Including every note recorded during the 1965-1966 sessions, every alternate take and alternate lyric, the package stirs in Dylan's original nine mono singles released during the time period, packaged in newly created picture sleeves. Also: rare hotel room recordings from the Savoy Hotel in London (May 4, 1965), the North British Station Hotel in Glasgow (May 13, 1966) and a Denver, Colorado hotel (March 12, 1966) as well as a strip of original film cells from DA Pennebaker’s groundbreaking rockumentary, Dont Look Back.
