New Order's Other Two Remix Tim Burgess
Exclusive! Listen to Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert's remodelling of The Charlatans frontman’s solo track, Oh Men.
WHILE THEIR BANDS have new albums due, The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess and New Order’s Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert have teamed-up for some extra-curricular work. Reviving their The Other Two moniker, the husband-and-wife team snuck into the studio to remix Burgess’s collaborative solo song, Oh Men.
“I asked Gillian if I could call it The Other Two Mix and she said, 'I think you should!'”

MOJO has the exclusive first play of their remodelling of the track, which you can listen to below.
“It’s a song I wrote with Kurt Wagner and Peter Gordon from Love Of Life Orchestra, an avant-garde musician from New York who’s played with Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson and is on every Arthur Russell record pretty much,” Burgess tells MOJO.
“The idea was to have the Oh Men Project where I got people I really liked to remix the track, people like Peaking Lights and The Invisible Conga People, and so I asked Stephen and Gillian.”
With the duo agreeing to take part, they decided to credit it to their former side project, The Other Two, last seen in full on 1999 album Super Highways.
“I asked Gillian if I could call it The Other Two Mix and she said, ‘I think you should!’” explains The Charlatans’ singer. “You can really hear her synths in it which makes me really happy. New Order are one of those bands I’ve been into since I was a kid, so it's great.”
However, the pair couldn’t rest on their New Order laurels when approaching the track because one of the other remixers had beaten them to the musical punch.
“It’s funny the Peaking Lights remix sounded quite New Order-y and when Stephen heard it he said, ‘Oh, I don’t really know what to do now’,” laughs Burgess. “What they’ve done is really gritty. I was dancing around my kitchen when I first heard it.”
All the remixes from the Oh Men Project, which also includes efforts from Grumbling Fur and Carter Tutti, will be released on 12-inch on December 15. Listen to The Other's Mix now.
