MOJO's Best Reissues Of 2014 Revealed
The year's finest sonic rediscoveries, excavations and remasters, carefully selected by MOJO's writers and staffers.
UNBELIEVABLY, IF YOUR faith rests in received cosmology, the earth has whizzed around the sun a whole once since we did this last. And, what an orbit it's been! The last 12 months have seen a sizzling feast of sonic goodies unleashed into the ether – and not just in the new albums dimension, but in the ever-expanding universe of reissues, that hallowed place where the glorious past gets a new lease of life.
So, steel yourself for our 20 Best Reissues of 2014, as unveiled in the latest issue of MOJO, available in the UK from Wednesday, November 26. Not only have we had the pleasure of Led Zeppelin's first three albums getting the deluxe remastered-with-bonus-tracks treatment, but careworn jewels like Orange Juice's You Can't Hide Your Love Forever and Grace Jones' Nightclubbing have also been judiciously rebirthed, together with amazing archive wonders such as CSNY's 1974 tour document, more of Bob Dylan's Basement Tapes and, jazzheads, mind-shattering long-lost live sets from John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
This, and all The Beatles' mono LPs stamped in that groovy one-channel format onto 180-gram vinyl, and much more.
