Hookworms: Listen To Their New Album In Full
Leeds band, and current MOJO Rising subjects, stream The Hum ahead of its release on November 10.
“I LIKE TO SURROUND myself with amps in the live room and make loops and drones, and then I procrastinate over them,” explains Hookworms singer MJ of his band’s creative process. “They help give our albums a flow which is really important. Albums have got to be whole works rather than incoherent sets.” Whether or not this issue’s MOJO Rising subjects have achieved this aim you can now judge for yourself... early... as the Leeds band are streaming new album The Hum ahead of its release next week (November 10).
A twisting series of unrelenting sonic lighting strikes, the record mixes psychedelic mazes with hardcore vocals and includes another trio of instrumentals (enigmatically entitled iv, v and vi – following on from i, ii and iii, which appeared on 2013 debut Pearl Mystic) that drag the listener down the rabbit hole.
Get the latest MOJO magazine (253 / December 2014) now for the band’s interview. In the meantime Off Screen from the album can be heard below, while the whole record is streaming here.
