Paul McCartney Announces New Wings Reissues
Venus And Mars and Wings At The Speed Of Sound get the deluxe treatment in September.
PAUL McCARTNEY HAS announced new deluxe reissues of two Wings albums, Venus And Mars and Wings At The Speed Of Sound. Originally released in 1975 and 1976 respectively, the remastered albums are the latest additions to The Paul McCartney Archive Collection and will be available in several formats including a 2CD standard edition, a 3-disc (2CD/1DVD) deluxe edition (featuring a book of unpublished photos and new interviews), gatefold vinyl and via digital download. Each edition will include bonus demos and unreleased tracks.
Prior to the recording of Venus And Mars, the McCartneys and Denny Laine drafted guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton into the band. Joe English (pictured on the far right above) soon replaced Britton and quickly went on to play on the Wings Over The World tour – a global trek that would see the band head to Abbey Road to record Wings At The Speed Of Sound.
Venus And Mars and Wings At The Speed Of Sound follow the recent remasters of Band On The Run, McCartney, McCartney II, Ram and Wings Over America.
You’ll be able to get hold of both on September 22 in the UK and September 23 in the US.
