Pulp Introduce Documentary With Live Hometown Q&A
Simulcast in selected cinemas, Sheffield art-pop icons relive their oft-stalled journey. Tomorrow!
TOMORROW EVENING AT 6.00pm Pulp screen their documentary biography, PULP: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets at Sheffield’s City Hall. The film will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with band members Jarvis Cocker, Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber, which will be simultaneously broadcast in selected cinemas nationwide. The film by quirky award-winning director Florian Habicht (Love Story) weaves together live footage from a cathartic 2012 show at Sheffield Arena, with interview material and dream-like tableaux featuring, ahem, “common people” from the streets of Sheffield, some questioned about the significance and particularity of the group and some having a go at the defining ditties of Britpop’s crimplene dandies.
Here’s some not-so-young folks turning in a creditable Help The Aged.
And here’s a more comprehensive trailer...
List of confirmed simulcast cinemas follows. Start times vary slightly due to individual programmes but the film will start at 6pm and the Q&A will follow at 7.45pm. Contact individual movie houses for details...
