Jah Wobble Presents PJ Higgins – Watch How You Walk (Lee 'Scratch' Perry Main Mix)
Bass ace Wobble and Dub Colossus voice meet the Upsetter! Hear it now.
AN ENTHUSIASTIC COLLABORATOR, Jah Wobble has made music with artists including Brian Eno, African Head Charge and Björk during his 35 eventful years of bass exploration. His latest album project is Inspiration, where he teams up with PJ Higgins, also known as vocalist with Ethiopian reggae-jazzers Dub Colossus. The lead track is Watch How You Walk, in its original form a rootsical warning/lament re: youth violence. This re-rub by dub methuselah Lee 'Scratch’ Perry, who’s readying his new Year Zero opus Back On The Controls, retains Higgins’ vocal, replaces Wobble’s rolling basslines with synthesizer squidging and adds Perry stream-of-consciousness narration that advises, “be clean. Watch what you eat… watch how you talk…”
Scratch has also just unleashed Jesus Is A Soul Man, his new team-up with rap producer Clams Casino that's available as part of a Bittorrent bundle to promote the DVD and iTunes release of the Benicio del Toro-narrated bio-doc The Upsetter: The Life And Music Of Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Here's an excerpt of the man with his face painted purple waving banknotes around.
