Premiere: Yello Star Dieter Meier Streams Full Album On MOJO

RELEASING YOUR FIRST SOLO album at the age of 69 might look like leaving it a bit late, but if you’re millionaire industrialist/playboy Dieter Meier, normal rules don’t apply. The debonaire Swiss’ crazy-cool vocals starred in unique sophisto-electro group Yello, over albums including You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess (1983) and 1985’s techno-prescient Stella. But in a turn up for the books, Meier is back, melding chanson and synths on a beguiling new album – Out Of Chaos – that emerges April 14 on the Staatskat label.

But you don’t have to wait till next week to hear Out Of Chaos, because you can experience the whole thing right now, only on MOJO...

Meier says his “comeback” is animated by the idea of chaos-as-opportunity, and combines acoustic elements with electronic perspectives provided by Berlin producer Nackt (Warren Suicide, Apparat) and electro pioneer T. Raumschmiere. Recorded at Chez Chérie Studios in Neukölln (Berlin, Germany), it resonates with hard-won wisdom plus the genius for the absurd and unfathomable that Yello fans have long cherished.
